Welcome visitor

I own an Apple PowerBook G3 (Pismo) and run Linux on it. 98% of it works great. I am once and again supprised how good the kernel and utilities were adapted to this non-i386 hardware and it's getting better day by day.

But as the 98% showed, not everything works and to help reaching the last 2% I created this site. Here you could find my small contributions to make a good thing perfect.

Most of the stuff you will find here is for Linux on PPC machines and mostly for the laptops. Nevertheless have a look and enjoy my site.

Comments, patches and bug reports are welcome. Write to following email address. You can't click on it because it is an image to confuse spam email scanners, sorry.

27.07.2007PBButtonsd 0.8.1a released - minor bug fix
This release fixes a small issue with the power scripts. The ambiguous hdparm option '-p', used by the hdparm script, was removed. This option has some side effects and anyway is not necessary because the kernel controls IDE drives very efficiently.
07.07.2007PBButtonsd 0.8.1 and GTKPBButtons 0.6.10 released - minor bug fix
This releases fix some minor bugs. PBButtonsd isable again to read the trackpad configuration from the config file and GTKPBButtons doesn't block the sound device anymore when launched as daemon.
21.02.2007PowerPrefs 0.8.0 released - minor feature enhencement
This release got support for the newautomatic ambient light controller model in pbbuttonsd and any other new feature of pbbuttonsd 0.8.0. To make this instantly visible the version numbers of both programs have been aligned.

A lot of ancient restrictions were eliminated and all GUI elements were adapted to pbbuttonsds modern and flexible driver system.

11.02.2007Pbbuttonsd 0.8.0 released - major feature enhencement
This release adds support for Apples MacBooksan MacBook Pros to pbbuttonsd. This includes support for LCD and keyboard backlight control, ambient light sensor with automatic brightness adjustment and basic ACPI support.

Furthermore the automatic brightness controller was replaced by a new one. The new model results in a more precise brightness adjustment of LCD backlight and keyboard illumination and is easier and more flexible to configure.

This release uses a new configuration file which is called pbbuttonsd.cnf and follows a standard format from freedesktop.org. The old file is no longer read and must be moved manually to the new format (which is not so difficult :-) ).

The developer documentation uses doxygen now. call configure with --with-doxygen-docs and make will generate it.

A whole bunch of bug fixes complete this release.
